Engaged and challenged…Under the direction of the Director Medical Staff Services, assists the Medical Staff by providing guidance to committee chairs and members in the performance peer review and quality improvement activities in compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and the other regulatory agencies. 

A day in the life…
-Demonstrated knowledge of acceptable professional standards and practices.
-Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals at all levels to facilitate the physician peer review process.
-Ability to review, summarize, and analyze medical records for the peer review process.
-Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word, basic PC skills, CACTUS, Excel, EMR, Cerner, 3M, Access, Power Point, Diligent.
-Initiates the preparation of monthly Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).
-Facilitates the committees/subcommittees assigned to her. Attends physician peer review meetings and serves as a liaison between various committees and subcommittees to facilitate communication and referral of cases for further physician review, and reports results to referring committee/subcommittees.
-Oversees that the physician peer review data is integrated into the credentialing process in a timely and accurate manner.
-Maintains knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
-Provides support and assistance to other hospital departments as necessary to facilitate the physician peer review process by coordinating cases referred for physician peer review.
-Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization, serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
-Responsible for overseeing the Peer Review Assistant in performing the peer review functions assigned to her.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

What we need (requirements)…
-Seven (7) years of Staff RN experience.
-Associates – Nursing (ASN)
-Basic computer skills
